Adventist-laymen’s Services & Industries (St. Vincent and the Grenadines) Chapter – ASI SVG Chapter

ASI SVG is a member Chapter of ASI Ministries which is a membership-based organization of Seventh-day Adventist laypeople who are enthusiastic about actively participating in the church’s worldwide mission: to spread the gospel of Christ to the world. This unique and diverse group of members ranges from business owners to individual professionals to supporting ministries.

Objectives


Spiritual Nurture. To provide a forum for spiritual nurture, empowering members to model Christ in their business and professional life.

Professional Growth. To affirm the gifts of Adventist professionals and business persons, and provide for their professional growth by organizing relevant seminars, lectures and workshops.

Commercial Networking. To allow Adventist business and professional persons to network with each other formally and informally facilitating mutual support, advertisement of products and commercial growth.

Harmony. To encourage business and professional persons to conduct their activities in full harmony with the standards and objectives of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and to maintain a harmonious relationship while working in partnership with the Church and its leaders.

Focus on Mission. To enable members of the organization to focus on the Mission of the Church, utilizing their spiritual, human and financial resources, individually and collectively, for the proclamation of the Gospel as they minister in the marketplace.

Membership

Membership in ASI is available to any Seventh-day Adventist layperson who is a church member in regular standing and who operates a business, provides a professional service or operates a supporting ministry. ASI membership may be in one of five categories.

1. Organizational Membership: is available to any organization owned and controlled by a Seventh-day Adventist lay person.

    a. The business shall have been in operation for at least six months at the time ASI membership is applied for.

    b. Membership shall be in the name of the organization.

    c. Continued membership is contingent upon the owner and/or CEO conducting the business of the organization in harmony with Seventh-day Adventist principles and personally remaining in regular standing in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

2. Professional membership: is available to any Seventh-day Adventist who is a professional or carries managerial responsibility. (Examples: physician who works as an emergency room doctor but is not in private practice, an attorney who is a member of a law firm but is not in the self-employed practice of law, or a hospital administrator who works for a non-qualifying institution).

3. Personal membership: is available to any Seventh-day Adventist owner or CEO of an organization which formerly held organizational membership under Article 3.2 for five (5) years or more and sells the business or leaves that organization.

4. Honorary membership: may be granted to any person who, based on his or her individual contribution to ASI, is selected for recognition and approved for such status by the ASI Board.

    a. Honorary members are not eligible for election to offices in ASI and are not required to pay dues.

    b. During his term of office, the President of the Conference/Mission may be granted honorary ASI membership.

5. Church employee membership: is held by any employee of the church who has been recommended by the Conference/Mission Executive committee to serve as ASI secretary-treasurer or as a member of the ASI Board. No payment of dues is required.

6. Special Member status: may be granted to any Seventh-day Adventist who displays a keen interest in the philosophy of ASI, and consistently supports its activities for a minimum of three years with his/her time, talent or treasure, and expresses a desire to become a member.
